Wylie hadn't really been thinking about going out and doing anything today. He wasn't feeling that interesting. In fact, he was hoping for a mellow day, which is what he should have thought of before he decided to dress in his all out punk outfit, completely with done up mohawk and Chuck Taylors. That wasn't an uncommon outfit for him, but on occasion he liked to look more normal, especially when all he wanted was a good cup of coffee.

And cue more things that made this outing not normal. As he turned away from the counter, picking up his coffee, he saw a very, very familiar face sitting in the corner. Without hesitation he walked over, pulled out the chair, spun it around and sat with his legs straddling it, the back of the chair in front of him. "Hey," he smiled that devilishly charming look.

Johnny sucked on his bottom lip as he checked his watch, the face on the thick leather wrist strap telling him that they would be cutting it a bit close, but it was still possible. He glanced at Wylie with a crooked smile, his eyes shining slightly as he realised that he actually enjoyed trying to surprise this guy.

"Do you know how long it's been since I've actually courted someone?" he finally asked, amusement lacing his tone.

Wylie raised both eyebrows at him, hands tucked in his pockets. "I'm guess a long time since you just used the word courting," he teased. That was not something anyone had ever tried to do with him before. Dated, yes. Slept with, double yes. Anything else, mostly. Courting? Nope. He had no idea what he had up his sleeves, but he was going along with it for now.

Johnny leaned over to nudge Wylie with his elbow. "What can I say? I'm feeling old today. Old fashioned..." They passed a flower store and Johnny dropped his hand to pluck a flower from one of the bunches set up out the front as they kept walking, the owner none the wiser. He held onto it until they started to turn a corner and presented the stolen bloom to Wylie. "And for my next trick..."

Wylie saw him take it and he had to keep from laughing, giving a glance over his shoulder at the shop owner. He turned to look at Johnny again and was being handed a flower. With a knowing grin, he took it from him, raised an eyebrow and proceeded to tuck the flower behind his head with a laugh. "You are trying really hard, Johnny," he teased. Not that he minded.

Johnny could feel colour tinge his cheeks but he just bit down on the inside of his cheek to stop it from growing. He was a man, he didn't blush. And he wasn't going to get embarrassed either. He ducked his head as he rubbed his hand against the back of his neck and chuckled. "Yeah, well... no sense in doing things by halves. Secretly I'm a romantic. Just most of the time I don't want any sort of attachment," he admitted. He dropped his hand and reached out for Wylie's as he guided him around a corner.

They passed a park on one side, but across the road was an elementary school. It was recess time, and all the kids were out playing. Johnny's gaze was fixed on the playground, clearly looking for someone. Finally he pointed, spotting his daughter. "There. Blonde hair in pigtails wearing the AC/DC t-shirt. That was my gift to her. Drove her mom crazy, but Alice loves it." He turned to look at Wylie, watching him now. "I know I don't have her very often, but if this turns into... If this gets serious, then it's her and me. Not just me you get."

Wylie wasn't great at romance. He decided not to tell him that, though. He just kept on following and he took his hand when it was being requested. They rounded a corner and were met with a school yard. Wylie had a sinking feeling in his stomach like things were about to get much more serious than he realized. Okay, maybe he should string him along.

But then he was seeing a little girl in pig tails with a classic rock t-shirt and Wylie sat, solemn and intense as he watched. Johnny attempted to speak to him, but he remained still, staring forward and admiring the little girl with an awful lot of spunk for her age. He glances over at Johnny after a moment and nods. He didn't really have much to add. Just simply that he understood the seriousness in Johnny's voice. "I'll probably like her better than you, anyway," he smirked.

"If you do, I really wouldn't hold it against you. But then, I'm biased," Johnny replied with a soft smirk. He sat next to Wylie, his gaze back across the road as he watched his daughter. "She's amazing. Really. And I know this isn't how you wanted things to go, and I know I said that I wanted casual, but look... You frustrate me after one cup of coffee, and I figure that's a good thing. It's a challenge, and there's no denying we do at least have the sexual chemistry side of it right. You don't seem freaked by kids, and that's a huge thing for me. It's a deal breaker. So, you know what? Yeah, I'm gonna try hard at this. At you."

Wylie listened, still not quite looking at him until the end. He understood the feeling. He'd felt it once before and then there was this, which was different, but equally frustrating. He took a deep breath, wanting to suddenly be honest, but he knew now wasn't the time. He didn't need to hear it. Not yet. Not so soon.

"You're a brave one, Jona," he replied, calling him by a nickname that just seemed to slip out of him. Maybe it was because he had his full name stuck in his head. Maybe it was just the way his brain was functioning today. maybe he was losing his mind with it. "I can't promise you anything. As much as I'm willing to see what happens..." he shakes his head. He doesn't know how to explain this to him without having to get into frightening details about his life.

Johnny shifted to take his smokes out of his other pocket and pulled out the packet. He stuck one between his lips before offering them to Wylie and lighting his up. He suddenly felt very much like he needed the nicotine hit, and they were outside. He never smoked inside, not anymore.

"Well, how about a new agreement? How about we just agree that seeing each other in the daylight isn't so bad. And that if we wind up eating, or hanging out. Doing whatever, it's not the end of the world." Johnny smiled at Wylie and leaned over to kiss his lips briefly. "Willing to find out, huh? I can live with that. At least it's not a straight out no."

He waved off the cigarettes kindly. He only smoked when he was stressed and when he did it wasn't in front of anyone. It was a dead giveaway that he wasn't up to par at the moment. He accepted the kiss though, almost feeling weird about it, but knowing that deep down, he kind of wanted this. The stability, the understanding. Sure, it was scary, but mostly Wylie was used to being alone and on his own.

"I'm going to break your heart," he said honestly. Shit.. the honesty had started. "I'm 23 and I've seen more shit happen than anyone should. I'm going to break your heart."

Johnny's smile faltered for just a second, but it didn't fade. His gaze stayed on Wylie even has he heard the school bell ring and all the kids run back inside - somewhere amongst them, his daughter. He let his cigarette dangle between his fingers as he stayed still.

"Isn't it still up to me whether I risk it, or not? I'm stupid enough to still want to try, Wylie," he told him softly.

Wylie holds his gaze, not moving, not even flinching. He was in shock that he'd want to keep this going, want to try when Wylie knew that this wasn't going to be easy. He took a deep breath and nodded. "I'm not going to stop you," he answered finally.

They were alone in the street, and Johnny leaned over to kiss Wylie a little more deeply this time. He let the kiss linger for a moment before he rubbed his hand against Wylie's thigh comfortingly. "Whatever it is, you can tell me when you're ready. We'll find a way to cope. I'm just sorry that you have seen so much shit to just make you want to be alone. It's not fair on anyone."

[[ooc: No probs, catch you then!]]

Wylie swallowed hard, trying to drown what was happening in his head. This man was willing to share part of himself with him, something like his daughter, and Wylie couldn't even explain what had happened to him that makes him such a bad candidate for anything remotely intimate. The kiss was nice, but not nearly as distracting as he may have needed. He didn't say anything. He didn't have anything he could think to say that would at all help with the situation.

Johnny rubbed his hand over Wylie's back as he just watched him, and wondered what the hell he'd managed to shake loose in this young man to freak him out so much. He kissed his temple and flicked ash off the tip of the cigarette when he realised it was building up. "Come back to my place. Get back on a little more familiar ground. I'm sorry if I... I'm sorry."

Wylie leaned into him. It was comforting, which was another thing he hadn't expected. Maybe he just didn't want to break Johnny's heart. Maybe he wanted to make it work and he knew that there wasn't a lot of hope for that. Maybe he was being a coward. He let out a gentle laugh, "You are apologizing when you have no idea what to even be sorry for. There's nothing. Don't worry about it." Code: there's something, it won't help if you know.

"Yeah, well, pre-emptive apology," Johnny responded with a chuckle. He nudged Wylie's cheek with his nose before he kissed it and started to chuckle. "Don't make me pinch your nose like I do with Alice. It's about one of the few things that gets her out of a funk. That, and picking her up and holding her upside down."

Wylie reached for his hand and smirked. He should have realized that Johnny was the cuddly, PDA type of person. He was pretty affectionate from the beginning. "You are adorable in daddy mode," Wylie teased right back. Wylie looked at him and grinned, kissing his lips briefly before tilting his head.
