Wylie listened, still not quite looking at him until the end. He understood the feeling. He'd felt it once before and then there was this, which was different, but equally frustrating. He took a deep breath, wanting to suddenly be honest, but he knew now wasn't the time. He didn't need to hear it. Not yet. Not so soon.
"You're a brave one, Jona," he replied, calling him by a nickname that just seemed to slip out of him. Maybe it was because he had his full name stuck in his head. Maybe it was just the way his brain was functioning today. maybe he was losing his mind with it. "I can't promise you anything. As much as I'm willing to see what happens..." he shakes his head. He doesn't know how to explain this to him without having to get into frightening details about his life.
